If you can believe it, the future Hockey Hall of Famer is still playing as he hits the ice regularly for Rytíři Kladno, the team he owns in the Czech Extraliga. Jagr, 49, has said numerous times he wants to play until he’s 50, maybe longer.
Jágr dons the squad number of 68 to commemorate the 1968 Prague Spring, and also did so while playing for the Penguins. The Czech won several championships and accolades throughout the nineties with the Pennsylvania side, including two Stanley Cups (the most prestigious U.S. ice hockey award), three Art Ross Trophies, and nine National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star Games.
Jagr was the greatest player in hockey and he was paid like it. For the 1999-00 season, Jagr was to be paid $10.4 million. He was the highest-paid player in NHL history at that time.
Jagr played 24 seasons in the NHL. He got his start in the league when he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins as the No. 5 pick in 1990. He then went on to win back-to-back Stanley Cups with the team in 1991 and '92. He won the Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP in 1998-99. Jagr’s last year playing in the NHL was in the 2017-18 season when 13 13. Should: Detroit Red Wings.
