He said that unfortunately, he has had a number of C4 Picasso in for this and it appears to be a common fault. The gearbox diff should last much longer (car had done 40,000). The total bill for this job was £2,100, (but included a new 6th gear as they also advised that this was fractured).
Visited Marsh Citroen yesterday was loaned a Xsara Picasso diesel which was just an old runabout but I had a Exclusive model previous to the C4 so not a problem and it was better than shanks pony ! Our car was tested for 9 miles by Dave and we then drove the 40 odd miles home NO PROBLEMS it seems to be cured but will keep everyone informed. This could be due to low battery voltage, a loose or damaged wiring harness, or a fault with the gearbox ECU. I would not have thought it was the actuator itself, unless the system has some sort of monitoring circuit. Some things you could possibly check yourself, but others I would entrust to a mechanic who had access to the right equipment. It has been in to have diagnostics done at a different Citroen specialist a few days after I got the car and they just ran a diagnostic test and said they only found minor fault codes which they cleared. They then said it should be fine as there were no major fault codes appearing, however, the problem is still there. Hi, I've got a C4 Picasso 1.6 HDi BMP 2008. Every time I power it up it displays "PARKING BRAKE FAULTY" and after a while "ESP / ASR FAULTY". Still everything works except for the automatic parking brake application and the service light is illuminated.

Hi, am having a few probs with the aforementioned car. it's less than a year old has 9000 on the clock and likes to cut out for fun at any speed ( it cuts out and is a pig to restart - it doesn't even drop into limp mode it just dies).
